Based on the author's arduous trip to China to adopt a baby girl, this is the heartwarming story of a mother's love and a baby's smile as they become each other's family. Charming watercolors and a complementary musical score make this a very special experience.

Children love to hear stories of themselves and where they came from. This gentle story about one little girl's placement and adoption with a loving mother will fit that need nicely for both adoptive children and those born into their families. Mia Farrow reads the simple words and short, easy sentences concretely and intimately, as if telling the story to a child sitting right there. Her voice reflects the joy, nervousness, awe, and love she feels when she first holds her little girl. The soft pastel illustrations are just right for the warm, loving tone of the book, and the background sounds of a baby cooing, along with the soft strains of Chinese music, create a charming, warm story to be read over and over again. “Rose Lewis’ book… is delightfully enhanced by Ernest Troost’s oriental-flavored music, Mia Farrow’s intimate narration, and background sounds of baby vocalizations, airplane engines, and more…. Especially appropriate for adopted children of those anticipating the arrival of a new sibling.”
